Normally, I talk about food first and then the wine we serve. But today I have to tell you about an amazing bottle of wine that we had last night. It was an Australian Red that was highly recommended by our wine steward friend Lucia Matheny.

The wine is called Molly Dooker, Two Left Feet. It is a 2012 blend of Shiraz, Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot. All I can say is that it was magnificent! It was almost burgundy in color. The legs were long, the wine smooth as silk and easy on the palate.

The most interesting thing about this wine is how you allow this wine to “breathe or aerate” once you open it. It’s called the Molly Dooker Shake… check out their website www.mollydookerwines.com or watch the YouTube video for this one.

We enjoyed a Filet Mignon that was perfectly grilled. Mike seasoned the Filet with a touch of salt and pepper and then grilled it to perfection. In our house that means medium rare and oh so tender that it melts in your mouth. I served the Filet with baked sweet potato and an organic salad of mixed baby romaine and spinach topped with baked beets, sautéed baby Bella Cremini mushrooms, sliced sweet mini peppers, sliced red onion, chopped walnuts, crumbled blue cheese and served with either a homemade Balsamic Vinaigrette or a homemade Champaigne Vinaigrette. It was a matter of what each of us wanted on this given occasion.

The meal was simple, but isn’t simple the best? The bottle of Molly Dooker cost around $30 depending on your source and should be available in wine stores throughout the country. If you can’t find it, ask the wine store manager if they can order a bottle. It’s that good.

Enjoy!
