There’s nothing like a chilled glass of wine on a hot summer afternoon which brings me to another wine worth mentioning from Trader Joe’s. It is from the Marlborough region of New Zealand and it’s this week’s Friday Cheers wine pick.
The Pass / NZ is a delightful Sauvignon Blanc that has a bright crisp taste with grassy and tropical fruit notes. Its aromatic grapefruit flavor is the first fruit you detect when you smell the wine. But when sipping, your palate embraces a combination of grapefruit and lemongrass along with green apple, lime, and peach. This wine is slightly acidic but with a touch of sweetness to it. The color of the wine is a beautiful pale green which reminds me of tall grassy fields.
The white grapes used in this wine are harvested from the two wine growing regions (Wairau and Awatere Valleys) of Marlborough. They are gently pressed, fermented, and aged in temperature controlled stainless steel tanks to ensure freshness, bright aromatics, lush texture, and balance. In 1997 New Zealand created a sustainable wine growing program to help preserve the environment and the quality of its wines.
This refreshing wine is produced by Foley Wines and is available through Trader Joe’s at a cost of $10.99 a bottle. Its price point makes it a good value. Run don’t walk and then, I’ll meet you on the back porch.
Hope you enjoy…cheers!
