Trader Joe’s is everyone’s favorite grocery store. From their fun snacks to their abundant wine selection, which they so generously offer samplings of. Several weeks ago, Mike and I popped in for some groceries and low and behold they were doing a wine tasting. The wine, a pleasing French White Bordeaux this week’s Friday Cheers wine pick.

The 2022 Sauvignon de Sequin Bordeaux blew us away… not only by its crispness but its reasonable price. It is a light-bodied dry and slightly acidic wine with a beautiful bright yellow color and complex aromas of citrus. Yes, there are faint hints of grapefruit, but not as much as you would find in a Sauvignon Blanc from New Zealand. This wine is smooth, has good balance and is a pleasure to drink! I see myself enjoying this wine on our back porch all summer long!

The wine is produced using 100% sauvignon grapes from the Entre-Deux-Mers region. It is fermented in stainless steel vats at a controlled temperature of 60 to 65 degrees Fahrenheit. The wine pairs well with poultry, fish, pork, vegetarian dishes, and an array of appetizers.

It is imported by Plume Ridge and sold exclusively through Trader Joe’s at a cost of $7.99 a bottle which is an amazing value for this wine.
