Life is pretty hectic this time of year… from hosting friends and family for dinner, to going to parties, to preparing for the holidays. There is always something to do, someone to see or someplace to go. Here is a great and simple idea if a friend stops by either for coffee in the morning or for a glass of Port or Sherry in the evening – Medjool Dates with Mascarpone. Mike and I have been enjoying this delectable taste treat for several weeks now… and we can’t get enough of it.

The sweetness of the dates and the lightness of the cheese sprinkled with freshly ground nutmeg make for a divine and delightful eating experience. Hope you enjoy!

What you will need:
Medjool Dates
Mascarpone Cheese
Nutmeg, freshly ground

Slice Medjool dates in half lengthwise and remove pit, take about 1 teaspoon of the cheese and spread in the date. Sprinkle with freshly ground nutmeg and enjoy! You can slice the entire container of dates or you can make just a few, it will all depend on you.

Mascarpone is naturally sweet and is the main ingredient in tiramisu, an Italian dessert, which I love! The cheese can also be used in both sweet and savory dishes and can be used instead of butter, cream cheese, or Parmesan cheese to thicken dishes.

We find the Warre’s Warrior Port to be an excellent choice. Let me know your thoughts on this one! Enjoy!
